Why do we need a Limpia Ceremony during the Full Moon
You may notice that during the days that we are close to the Full Moon many people assist to a Limpia Ceremony (Traditional Mexican Energy Cleansing Ceremony)
The questions that we may have are:
– What happens to us during the Full Moon?
– Why do we need a Limpia Ceremony?
The moon has a big influence on us. Everyone knows that a big percentage of our body is made out of water and that the moon pulls by gravitational forces the water in our body. This happens all the time but it is stronger during the time of the Full Moon. People that are very sensitive can feel this pull. It happens not only to us, also to animals, plants and water bodies like the ocean. That is why we have tides.
What not too many people know is what happens at an energy level, from a spiritual point of view.
In Curanderismo or Mexican Shamanism we believed that the water element is the one responsible for carrying our emotions and thoughts. These emotions and thoughts can be negative or positive in the sense of good thoughts and emotions or bad ones. The water element doesn’t make any difference in which ones to carry. It is up to us what kind of emotions and thoughts we have. We are responsible for that. That is why it is so important to add spiritual practices to manage our emotions and control our thoughts.

On a spiritual level, the pull of the Full Moon affects the water element so much that the thoughts and emotions that we have are been pulled all the way to the surface of our aura. This happens to everyone. We all have our emotions “a flor the piel” (at the surface). Remember, I am talking from an energy and spiritual point of view.

By the law of attraction, we attract the same. If we are going through difficult times, our emotions and thoughts are going to be most likely negative and they are going to be vibrating like magnets at the surface of our aura attracting more negativity.
[space_40]
The aura is an energy field that we produce with the energy of our body and chakras. The aura surrounds our body like if we were inside a ball or an egg made out of energy.
[space_40]
The aura can act in two ways depending on how strong or weak it is.
If it is strong, we can use it as an energy shield to protect ourselves from negative energies coming from the outside. There are specific Curanderismo exercises that help us to develop a thick and strong aura.

If the aura is weak then it is like a curse, we tend to absorb negative energy from friends, family, workplace, even from the t.v. and the news. If this energy lingers on our aura for a long time, then we absorb it and turn it into “ours”. We merge with this energy. Once it is part of us the probability to develop sickness, depression, anxiety and even financial problems or bad luck increases. If this is the case, the best we can do for ourselves is to have a Limpia Ceremony.

Our aura can become very thin with different situations like stress, problems, bad eating habits, being surrounded by negative people, etc.

When the Moon is Full, the negativity that we carry within us comes out stronger than on other days. We can feel the effect even like a week before if we are very sensitive or empaths. During the time of the Full Moon, we have the tendency also to “grab” or “absorb” somebody else’s negative feelings, emotions, thoughts, and energy.
[space_40]
The best we can do is to be prepared and practice thickening our aura those days and if we feel that we are too negative or something is going wrong in our life it is too late… we may need a Limpia Ceremony because our aura allowed the negative influences to sink in inside ourselves.

To recap:
What happens to us during the Full Moon? We have the tendency to absorb negative emotions and thoughts from everywhere
Why do we need a Limpia Ceremony? To get rid of negativity
